The Gaither Homecoming Bible

The Gaither Homecoming Bible. I don’t even have words. Let’s start with the basics:

  • hardback
  • NKJV

Now the cool stuff! Bill and Gloria Gaither are the general editors. If you don’t know who they are, you can click over here to their website and look around. I grew up watching and listening to them because my mom loved the tv specials that they did. Anyway, this Bible has the typical “Family Records” sections and, of course, the Old and New Testaments. What most Bibles don’t have though are devotional contributions and stories from people who have been guests on Homecoming broadcasts (to name a few: Ronnie Booth, Mark Lowry, and Buddy Mullins). Also included are words to several old hymns such as: All Creatures of Our God and King, Be Thou My Vision, and The Old Rugged Cross.

Now, what do I think of it? Personally, I think it’s a great Bible, especially if you are Gaither fans. The dust cover is beautiful, the font is easy to read, and the general layout is well done. It’s always good to read how other people understand things from the Bible and the stories and devotionals included are no exception. Many of the contributors have been walking this road for a good number of years so they have insights that you may never have even thought of before. I do have to say, I think this Bible would be better suited to the older generations who know the old hymns, or who know who the Gaithers are. Not that the younger generation wouldn’t gain some great insight from it, but it’s not quite their speed unless they’re more into gospel music. All in all, a beautiful Bible that would be great to study from, especially for music lovers!

Disclaimer: I received this Bible for free from Thomas Nelson in exchange for an honest review.
